Revival

We had a wonderful week of revival last week. The Holy Spirit was there with us each night and the singing was wonderful. Best of all, 2 souls were saved which made everything else pale in comparison,!!! We had Brother Frank Pittman speak. I had never heard him before, and he truly was a blessing. I do want to share a few of the thoughts the Lord had laid on his heart. Though they are things I KNOW, they are also things I certainly needed to hear again and they are thoughts that maybe can encourage someone else!
One night ( I'm not sure which one) he preached from 1Samuel 30:1-6
David and his men came back to their city to find that all of their women and children had been taken captive including 2 of Davids wives. The bible says the men and David were so full of sadness and grief that they wept until they couldn't anymore. But vs 6 was his point.
And David was greatly distressed ,for the people spake of stoning him because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
David had no one. No one wanted to encourage him, he had nobody to share his grief with, his wives were gone, he had no friends, they all wanted to stone him. But David found his encouragement in the Lord. We don't know exactly how he did it, but he did.
Maybe, he flash backed on some of the things the Lord had already done for him, and took comfort knowing God would take care of this too. Maybe he remembered Goliath, and how there was no way for him to get a victory, but the Lord gave it to him. Maybe he remembered when the Lord allowed him to slay thousands of Philistines. Maybe he remembered the bear and the lion that attacked his sheep.
It seems that sometimes when we really could use an encouraging call, or word, no one is around. Sometimes it might feel like no one cares about our burdens, and we get so tired of soldiering on, but everyone else is wrapped up in their lives and their own burdens.

But the Bible says in Psalm 27:10 When my Father and Mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

When our family has forsaken us, wants nothing to do with us, the Lord is there.

When our past sins seem to creep up on us, and satan tries to get us to believe we can't be used remember Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
The Lord doesn't remember those sins at all!!!! Now, how is that for encouraging?

We can remember who and what we were before we got saved, and think of who and what we are now!!

We can think on Romans 8:35 that says NOTHING will separate from the love of God!!!

Hebrews 13:5 says the Lord will never leave us or forsake us.

David even spoke of his death with encouragement. His head was to be cut off, yet he was excited about the crown he would get in heaven. He KNEW he would have a new body there!!Even in death a christian wins life!!

So often we allow ourselves to sink into a pity party when we have no one around to uplift us, when it seems our friends and family are either not supportive or just too busy.It might be nice to have their encouragement, but it is not what we need. We need to remember what the Lord has done for us, remember the victories He has given us in the past, and know that He is there, and will take care of this thing too!!!
