A new Program

">sweeping broom Pictures, Images and Photos
Last night we started a new program in our church. it's Young Men in Demand and Denim and Lace. Right now we have ages 8 and up, later that may change.

Jon did a great job doing a visual on us being tools that God can use. He set out a trumpet, and attempted to play it, but couldn't. He then asked Jaren to play a little, and said it sounded right because Jaren knew how to use that instrument. He then went on the explain that the maker of the trumpet would be able to play it best of all, since he would know what every button, piece, "member" was supposed to do, and how it was supposed to do it. He then held out a broom and asked what it did. The answers were what you'd expect. "It sweeps" "It moves dirt", so he stood it up on the pulpit and told the kids to watch it work. Of course, it didn't work. It doesn't work, it was made to be USED by someone. We are like those tools. The bible says we are Gods handiwork in Ephesians, and it says in Romans we are to "yield our instruments unto Righteousness" and to "yield our instruments unto God". The Devil will TRY to work us, but he has no clue as to how we really work, and exactly what we as individuals are made for. The Lord knows though, after all He made us, and wants us to yield ourselves to Him. Jon also showed a broken mop, and said the maker of the mop would know how to fix it so it could work again, and sometimes sin breaks us, but the Lord knows how to fix it so we are usable again.

All in all, it was great, and the kids seem to be looking forward to the challenges ahead.

Sounds like a good lesson. The visual was good too, I'm sure.
