Well, as you know the last month has been busy, busy. On top of Jon's commuting, we needed to finish our Wednesday Night program. It started last year rather slow. Our kids were the only ones that first Wednesday night, but we gradually grew. By the end we had about 15 on average, ranging from 8-15. We decided to teach them about christian character and went through the alphabet, giving them a character word, a verse corresponding to that word, a definition, and the sign language. Then they had additional verses to memorize, to keep it fair the kids 11 and under had fewer extra verses, but everything else was the same. They got points for attendance, attitude, bible brought, scripture memory, christian character memory , competition, singing, drama, preaching, reports, and sermon notes. They all did fantastic, and I was really proud of my three. They were in the top 4. Justin was 1 Jaren was 2 Shelby was 3 And Jade K was 4.
My boys each preached a few times, sermons of their own, really no help, just an overview of their outline before they started to make sure it was scripturally sound, Shelby gave a report on Ruth that she seemed to work on ALL year, and they were so faithful to memorize their verses. Because we were the teachers we were careful to not "pressure" them to memorize, and participate, so it really all came from them.
Reciting Christian Character words
All the kids got Christian Character awards based on what we saw of them in class and church.
The most amazing thing to us was that we had between 4 and 6 of our 'bus kids' who walked over every Wednesday Night and they also did their best to participate. They are niot in the pictures because the award ceremony was on saturday night and they each are with respective grandparents all day and evening on Saturdays. What is neat is they were usually the first to arrive at the church, and waited for everyone else to get there!! No parent to drag them in, they came because they love coming to church.
