Heb.5:12-14 & 6:1
One night Bro. Pittman preached on just going on.
He started with a little stepping on toes to wake us up. The beginning of the scripture he preached on spoke of how so many Christians have been saved long enough to have grown in the Lord, and matured spiritually. But there are still just sittin' there on their pews! Why are they not teaching others what they have learned?? Why are they still stuck on basic doctrine, never growing?? He said these are the bickering Christians. You know the ones who find fault in everything? They are just like small children, they are christian babies!
Then he got on to his text. It was quite simple really.
LET US GO ON
... when friends forsake us
...when loved ones pass
...when life is unfair
...when we lose our jobs
...when finances are tight
........you get the picture
In Ezekiel 24:16 the Lord told Ezekiel that He would be taking the "desire of thine eyes"( it was his wife)and Ezekiel was commanded to not go into mourning. He was to get up the next day and preach.
So, he did. He went on!!!
Job had everything in the world he cared about taken from him, his friends were convinced he was guilty of SOMETHING, even his wife forsook him.Yet he did not stop. He went on!!
Paul was persecuted many times, beaten, jailed, tortured, exiled, AND the Lord saw fit to give him a physical infirmity. He asked three times for the Lord to take that burden from him, but the Lord said no. But He would give Paul grace to bear it! Paul went on!!
Jesus cried in the garden so hard it was as though He had blood running down His face. His friends slept on, leaving Him to bear it alone. He asked His Father if there was no other way, He KNEW what was coming! Yet, the Lord denied His Son, because it WAS the only way, and gave Jesus an angel to help Him bear It. Jesus WENT ON!
